70 students, coming from different Roman Pontifical Universities, are taking part in the course "Economics for Ecclesiastics" promoted by the Research Center Markets, Culture and Ethics.
According to those organizing, it is encouraging data, which underlies the need and desire, on the part of the students, to recieve the necessary instruments permitting better comprehension of the current economic context, with which they find themselves confronting at different levels, as well as to better explain the Social Doctrine of the Church.
The first two lectures were held Friday October 10 and Monday October 13. The speaker, Lord Brian Griffiths of Fforestfach, discussed issues concerning the determination of market prices and the rule of governerments and public instititions within the economic market.
Economics for Ecclesiastics will be followed November 28 and December 1, 2014, with lectures by Antonio Argandoña, Professor Emeritus of the IESE Business School of Barcelona, and then again mid-January with the return of Lord Brian Griffiths of Fforestfach
This course represents a way to teach the basics of economics, keeping in mind the ethical depth of every human action.
