Dear Professors, Students, and Employees,

with great sorrow I must inform you that Professor Alfonso Nieto passed away today (February, 2nd) in Pamplona, Spain. Prof. Nieto was a dear member of the School of Institutional Communications and Doctor Honoris Causa of our University.

For several months he has been in poor health, and in the last few weeks the situation worsened. Accompanying our pain for his loss, it is certainly beautiful to think that God called him to Himself on the feast of the Presentation of the Lord. I ask that you join me in praying for his soul.

Professor Nieto was an important collaborator and an enthusiastic promoter of our University. We are very grateful for his commitment at the academic level as well as for his genuine likeability and friendliness. May the Lord repay him for all the good he has sown among us in these years, as well as for his example of an authentically Christian life.

In the coming days we will announce the date and time for the Holy Mass we intend to celebrate in intercession for his soul.
