Inauguration of the Academic Year 2014-2015. Grand Chancellor: "A Church outbound has need of a university outbound"
Tuesday, October 7, the inauguration ceremony for the 30th academic year of our University took place.
At 9:30 am, in the Basilica of Sant’Apollinare, the Bishop Prelate of Opus Dei and Grand Chancellor, Mons. Javier Echevarría, presided over the Holy votive Mass of the Holy Spirit, con-celebrated by deacons of the different schools and academic authorities.
Following, in the Aula Magna "Giovanni Paolo II", the solemn act took place along with an inaugural speech by Rev. Prof. José María La Porte, dean of the School of Communications, on The communication of the faith and the existential peripheries.
In the opening speech for the new academic year, the Grand Chancellor stated: “A Church outbound has need of a university outbound, which does not lock itself up in a sort of ivory tower, but develops in thought what is born from life and is placed at the service of life.“
Concluding the ceremony, staff who had worked at the University for 25 years were presented silver medals.
