Marco Tarquinio

Marco Tarquinio , born March 16, 1958 , is the editor in chief of "Avvenire" . 

Expert in domestic and international politics, Tarquinio began his career as a reporter in "La Voce " , a Catholic weekly newspaper where he worked between 1981 and 1984.

In 1983 he began to collaborate with the " Corriere dell'Umbria ", the newspaper where he became a professional journalist .

In 1988 he moved to Rome, to work in "La Gazzetta " directed by Giuseppe Crescimbeni , which puts him at the head of the political service.

In 1990 he was called by Franco Cangini to "Il Tempo", where he worked in the area of foreign policy, and then back to political-parliamentary chronicles and, finally, collaborated as chief editor and political columnist.

In 1994 he left "Il Tempo" and moved to "Avvenire", accepting the offer of the new Director, Dino Boffo. In this national newspaper of Catholic inspiration, he has long been political editor, he directed first the central office in Milan and then the Roman one. In 2007 and in 2009 became deputy director . He has been awarded with several journalism awards: among others , the "Golden Pen", the " Valerio Volpini", the "Civitas Casertana - Le buone notizie", the "Fregene" and the "Renzo Foa". On June 14th, 2012 he was honored by the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart .

 On December 13th, 2011 he was appointed by Pope Benedict XVI consultant to the Pontifical Council for Social Communications.
