Greg R. Erlandson

Greg R. ErlandsonGregory R. Erlandson is the President and Publisher of the Our Sunday Visitor Publishing Division. The Board of Directors of Our Sunday Visitor, Inc. appointed him to that position in November 2000.

Erlandson has overseen the development of a number of new publishing efforts, including a line of Catholic stewardship materials, the Catholic Parent Know How series, and a wide-ranging series of Catholic pamphlets. In 2009 the Publishing Division acquired the curriculum division formerly known as Harcourt Religion. It is now called Our Sunday Visitor Curriculum.

The Publishing Division has 90 employees and distributes Catholic materials nationally and internationally. Our Sunday Visitor is dedicated to serving the Church by providing publications that help the Catholic in the pew to better understand and appreciate his faith and apply it to the world today. The company currently has more than 2,300 active book curriculum and religious education resource titles and six periodicals.

Erlandson is also President of the Catholic Press Association of the United States and Canada and has been appointed by Pope Benedict XVI as a consultor to the Pontifical Council for Social Communications.

Previously, Erlandson served as Editor in Chief at Our Sunday Visitor from 1992. As Editor in Chief, he oversaw the company's book and periodical editorial departments and the design department. He was responsible for the editorial content of the company's periodicals, trade books, religious education materials, videotapes, audiocassettes and CD-ROMs.

Erlandson joined the staff of Our Sunday Visitor in 1989 when he was appointed the Editor of the national newspaper. Under his tenure, the newspaper was redesigned and won numerous awards from the Catholic Press Association.

He previously worked as a correspondent in the Rome bureau of Catholic News Service, where he covered the Vatican for the Washington-based Catholic wire service from 1986 to 1989.

From 1982 until 1986, he worked as news editor for the National Catholic Register, a national Catholic weekly newspaper then based in Los Angeles.
During his years in the Catholic press, he has won a variety of awards for his writing from the Catholic Press Association, including best general commentary, best news story, best editorial, best family column and best interview.

Erlandson has also published articles in the Wall Street Journal, the Washington Post, the Los Angeles Times and a variety of Catholic publications.
He is co-author of the 2010 book, Pope Benedict XVI and the Sexual Abuse Crisis: Working for Reform and Renewal (Our Sunday Visitor).
As president of the Catholic Press Association, Erlandson is an advisor on the U.S. Bishops Communications Committee. He also serves on the advisory board of the Our Sunday Visitor Institute.

He studied Journalism at the Graduate School of Journalism of the University of California at Berkeley. He received a B.A. and an M.A. in English literature at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, where he graduated magna cum laude.

Erlandson is married to Corine Bischetti Erlandson. They have four children.
