On Tuesday, October 22 (4:45pm,  Álvaro del Portillo Hall), on the initiative of the School of Canon Law, took place the presentation of the book Rights and people in John Paul II (Diritti e popoli in Giovanni Paolo II), written by Libero Gerosa.

Inauguration of the 2013/2014 Academic Year

The inauguration of the 2013/2014 academic year took place Monday, October 7 with the Prelate of Opus Dei and University Chancellor, Bishop Javier Echevarría presiding.

The votive Mass offered to the Holy Spirit commenced at 9:30 A.M. in the Basilica of Saint Apollinaire and was concelebrated by  university authorities and the deans of each school. Holy Mass will be followed by the formal commencement at 11:00 A.M. in the university Grand Lecture Hall John Paul II. The inaugural lecture entitled "The counsel of the jurist" will be presented by reverend Eduardo Baura, tenured professor of Canon Law.

Religious freedom in Pakistan. Conference with Archbishop J. Coutts

Thursday, October 10, 2013, in collaboration with the Italian arm of the organization of Aid for the Church in Need, the University hosted the conference "Victims of black law. Religious freedom in Pakistan" with the participation of Msgr. Joseph Coutts, Archbishop of Karachi and President of the Episcopal Conference of Pakistan.

New Director at Higher Institute of Religious Studies “all’Apollinare”

With effect from 1 October 2013, the Rev. Prof. Davide Cito was appointed as the new Director of the HIRS all'Apollinare, replacing the Rev. Prof. Marco Porta, who leaves for a new pastoral job after 18 years of service to the Institute, first as secretary, then as ViceDirector and then as Director. To him the thanks of the whole university community.

Approved Miracle attributed to the Intercession of Venerable Alvaro del Portillo, Our First Chancellor

The Holy Father Francis authorized the Congregation for the Cause of Saints to proclaim the Declaration regarding the miracle attributed to the intercession of the Venerable Servant of God Alvaro del Portillo. Titular Bishop for Life, Msgr. del Portillo was Prelate of the Personal Prelature of the Holy Cross and of Opus Dei, as well as the first Chancellor of the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross.

HOURS OF AUGUST

Please be informed that all the offices that are located in the Apollinare Building will be closed August 5 to 21.
The Library will be open instead the entire month of August, but the access is limited.

Rome is again the center of the world in PUSC classrooms

Students from five continents have flocked to the classrooms of the University of the Holy Cross to participate in its Summer School of Classical Languages.

Enrollment in the courses, offered for the fifth time this summer, grows every year. More than 100 students have gathered in Rome this year to attend classes taught by professors from prestigious universities around the world.
